Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shakar was the American and British sitar artist. She was also the youngest and first woman to receive an award from the British House of Commons Award. Anoushka Sitar Shankar was the Indian young sitar singer. She's a daughter of Ravi Shankar and a former student. She was a child who bounded around from London to New Delhi. At the age of 13 she performed her debut performance at New Delhi. In the following years she moved to Encinitas CA she attended high school and graduated with distinction in 1999. While she's still young, Anouskha is an accomplished performer and recording record. She frequently joins her father on stage, which she's done for quite a few years. Her first solo album, Anourag, was released in 1998. The album was released in 2002. her Grammy Nominated Live at Carnegie Hall. Apart from performing in all of the largest venues as well, she has an extensive stage presence. Anoushka Shankar's work isn't limited to music. She also published Bapi, the Heart of My Life, in 2002. The book is a biography which pays tribute to her father Ravi Shankar. She also acted on the film "Dance Like a Man" in 2003. Her role was as a Bharat natyam dancer in Dance Like a Man. Anoushka Shankar is an emerging superstar and her fame is expected to continue growing. Anoushka Shankar is a British born singer who travelled her childhood between London, Delhi and California. In Delhi at his 75thbirthday celebration she made her debut playing the sitar in front of the audience four years following her nine-year-old father. Alongside her father, his world tour, Anoushka had a wealth of performances in Carnegie Hall while still in her teens, performing in Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festival as well as making recordings together with George Harrison. Her musicianship and talent have been recognized by British Parliament as being among the top at Asian Arts.
